FAMO practice 1

The three FAMO Practice courses examine the details of FAMO exercises to refine your own movement execution and prepare you to teach your clients. This first FAMO Practice module offers a rich selection of experience-proven repertoire that utilise and benefit all 12 fascial movement qualities (FAMO Focus) and 12 myofascial meridians (Anatomy Trains in Motion).

About the Course

By the end of the course, you will have a nuanced understanding and a felt sense of a multidimensional set of our favourite FAMO exercises, ready to use in your personal practice and with clients. Experience has shown that the movements and techniques are well-suited for group classes, personalised training, and therapeutic settings, using body-minded movement to enhance physical functionality and psycho-emotional wellbeing.

While all myofascial meridians are considered, special emphasis is placed on the Superficial Back Line and Superficial Front Line due to their essential roles in postural balance, movement production, and creating a feeling of grounded lift in the body-mind. Among the diverse selection of primary exercises are the 14 used for posture-based movement strategies in the FAMO Body Reading & Rebalancing course.

Course Highlights

For a purely somatic, non-analytical immersion into FAMO Practice 1, each course day begins with a master class that seamlessly weaves in the day’s repertoire. These exercises are then broken down and explored in detail to prepare you to teach.

FAMO Practice 1 repertoire comprises:

  • Differentiated and integrated exercises in all body positions
  • Slow and deep, dynamic, and rhythmic, stimulating and invigorating, strengthening and melting exercises as well as contrasting movement sequences
  • Exercises variations and adaptations that alter focus, intensity, and/or body position
  • Exercise variations with and without massage tools

Each exercise is experienced and discussed in terms of:

  • Movement execution
  • Exercise aims and benefits
  • Functional myofascial anatomy
  • Utilisation of fascial movement qualities
  • Applied training techniques
  • Use and advantages of massage tools or supportive props
  • Purposeful sequencing
