I don’t believe in resolutions, setting goals for the coming year, and all kinds of visualizations of the future and their realization. They don’t work for me, and as far as I know my clients, they don’t work for most of them either. For me personally, self-reflection works best. Questions I can ask myself and, by answering them honestly, understand what is going on with me, others, and the world. And then I can decide whether or not to take action to change that “something,” says Julius Tilvikas, a psychologist living and working in Vilnius, a cognitive and behavioral therapy practitioner, and the author and host of the podcast Tilviko Lizdas. Working with adults and couples in private practice, he has accumulated over 14 years of experience in psychological counseling. Childhood trauma is one of the most dominant areas of Julius’ work and expertise, and he has written extensively about it, given lectures, spoken and commented in the public media.
